Flipped: Young love and other heartwarming things

Nothing is more adorable than puppy love. In Flipped (2010), puppy love becomes even more adorable as good-looking actors play the part of Bryce and Juli. Total eye candies!

I personally find it cute how Madeline Caroll (old Juli) and Morgan Lily (young Juli) look so alike. I also couldn’t get enough of Callan McAuliffe. He is the perfect poster boy for the boy-next-door archetype.

Flipped (2010) is about the turning tables of love. At seven, Juli falls head over heels with Bryce only to be avoided by him repeatedly. At fourteen, Juli’s affections begin to wane just as Bryce is starting to fall for her!

However, it was not only the blossoming romance between Bryce and Juli that tug at my heartstrings. The portrayal of autism and class difference in this movie also drew me close to tears.

The actor who played Juli’s mentally challenged uncle was amazing! His scenes were the most touching in the movie. My heart really went out to him.

I also had a soft spot for Juli’s mom. As the woman of the household, she pines for a good life for her family. This has become a challenge for Juli’s parents given the condition of her uncle.

Flipped (2010) is one of the best feel-good movies I’ve seen. It could have been better in terms of screenplay but the cinematography was beautiful. The chemistry between Carroll and McAuliffe is a big bonus too.
